Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions set out the basis on which we sell our handmade pottery to you through this website. Please read them before placing an order — by ordering, you agree to them. They do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

About us

This website is operated by Pottery By Perdita, a handmade ceramics business trading as a sole trader in the United Kingdom. Our contact details are available on request and are provided when you order.

Our handmade pieces

Every piece is sculpted and finished by hand, so each one is genuinely unique. Small variations in shape, size, colour, glaze and finish are part of their character and are not faults. Photographs on the website are as accurate as we can make them, but colours may appear slightly different on your screen.

Placing an order

When you place an order you will receive an acknowledgement by email. This confirms we have received your order but does not yet form a contract. A contract is formed only when we confirm that your order has been accepted or dispatched. We may decline an order — for example if a piece is no longer available or there has been a pricing error — and if so we will refund any payment taken.

Made to order & bespoke commissions

Most pieces are made to order. Current lead times are around [2–3 weeks] unless stated otherwise, and we will let you know if anything is likely to take longer. Bespoke or commissioned pieces are made specially to your specification — please see the cancellation section below, as different rules apply to these.

Prices & payment

All prices are shown in pounds sterling (£GBP). Pottery By Perdita is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged — please confirm. Payment is taken at checkout through our payment provider, [payment provider — e.g. Stripe / PayPal]. We take reasonable care to ensure prices are correct, but if we spot a genuine error we will contact you before proceeding.

Delivery

We deliver within [the UK — confirm if you ship internationally]. Delivery is free on orders over £75; below that, postage is calculated and shown at checkout. Because each piece is made to order, delivery timescales run from when your piece is ready. Items are carefully packaged to protect them in transit.

Your right to cancel (ready-made pieces)

If you are a consumer buying a ready-made, non-personalised piece, you have the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This right lasts for 14 days from the day you receive your order — even if it arrives quickly, the 14 days runs from delivery.

To cancel, let us know within that period using the contact details provided.

You then have 14 days to return the item to us, unused and in its original condition and packaging.

We will refund you within 14 days of receiving the item back (or proof that you have sent it).

Unless the item is faulty or damaged, you are responsible for the cost of return postage. As these are fragile ceramics, please pack them very carefully — we recommend a tracked, insured service.

Bespoke & commissioned pieces

The 14-day right to cancel does not apply to bespoke, personalised or made-to-your-specification commissions, which are exempt under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. These pieces are non-refundable unless they arrive faulty or not as described. Your statutory rights in respect of faulty goods are unaffected.

Damaged in transit or faulty items

We pack every order with great care, but ceramics can occasionally be damaged in the post. If your piece arrives broken or damaged, please contact us within [e.g. 48 hours / 7 days] with a photo, and we will arrange a replacement. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described; if a piece is faulty, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

Our liability

We take responsibility for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for your statutory rights as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction. This does not remove any protection you have as a consumer in your home nation of the UK.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one published on this page when you place it.
